My name is Mike Major, and I am a devoted husband of seventeen years and the father of a quirky, astute five year old with an imagination like none I’ve seen before. I live north of Houston, in Conroe, Texas.
I received my MA in Philosophy, focused on mathematical logic and analysis, from the University of Missouri. My undergraduate degrees in philosophy and religious studies,
with a minor in English, were completed at Southern Illinois University. I have continued my education in various ways, but most recently by earning Harvard
University's CORE Credential in Business, centered around Business Analytics, Economics, and Financial Accounting, and attaining PMI accredited Project Management Professional certification through Google.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked primarily in tech-adjacent and startup/small-business development roles. Over the last decade, it has been my privilege to contribute significantly to expanding diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Working at the intersections of technology, education, and causes that support the enrichment and acceptance of others has shaped me into a multifaceted, highly capable professional. I am empathetic, yet results-driven, capable of seeing through issues to deliver impactful solutions. The results I have achieved speak for themselves: securing millions in funding for nonprofits, facilitating the training of thousands of overlooked and undervalued individuals, creating a more diverse tech workforce, and changing lives and generations through hard work and commitment.

I have consistently demonstrated strong storytelling abilities, superior writing and editing skills, and the capacity to convey complex ideas effectively. In my role as Program & Financial Management Officer at Bitwise Impact (now TechUplift), I played a crucial role in raising $11.4 million over two years through strategic partnerships and targeted funding opportunities. I provided financial management, accounting, and regulatory support, managed compliance and reporting, and developed expansion budgets while forecasting new projects. Additionally, I was instrumental in creating high-impact, creative, and scalable content to support editorial strategies across earned, owned, and social platforms, and churned out highly effective grant and project proposals on a weekly basis. These experiences have honed my ability to prioritize tasks, manage complex projects, and lead diverse teams effectively.
I have a strong reputation for consistently crafting and executing strategies that have surpassed business growth objectives and resulted in highly effective fundraising campaigns. My ability to communicate effectively and bridge gaps between diverse stakeholders has distinguished my approach, making me an effective networker and relationship manager. As a committed and meticulous researcher, I interact as effectively with programmers, scientists, and academics as I do with business professionals, foundations, and potential donors, ensuring that philanthropic efforts are perfectly aligned with organizational goals. With a proven track record in grant writing, fundraising, strategic development, and project management, I am well-equipped to drive success in any professional setting.
While I have many interests and hobbies, including writing, tennis, traveling, hiking, birdwatching, and cycling, spending time with my wife and daughter is always my top priority.
